Start with what is not working for you
Most owners do not need a sales pitch about bookkeeping. They need one specific thing fixed: the catch up that never ends, the accounts that will not reconcile, the reports that arrive too late to use. Tell us which one it is and we will tell you how to put it right.
- We start from your pain point, not a package
- Evaluation of the issues and the options to resolve them, provided by a senior person with years of experience implementing financial accounting systems
- Your own account specialist, who gets to know your business and works with you each month
- Month end reports reviewed by a senior specialist before they reach you
- Discrepancies reported to you, on an ongoing basis
Every month we code the bank feed, reconcile every account, clear undeposited funds, review receivables and payables, post payroll, track 1099 vendors, and the file is reviewed before the report pack is sent.
You are not behind because you are bad at this
Our philosophy is simple. Of course you could do this yourself. We think you are better off putting your time where you are strongest, and letting us help you succeed.
You find out in March what was true in June
The books get done once a year, at tax time, by somebody working backwards. That satisfies the return and tells you nothing you could have used to price a job, make a hire, or spot a customer who quietly stopped paying.
The work gets done, but nobody checks the result
With your own dedicated account specialist you can ask for more detail on transaction activity, so you are in a better position to change how you deal with a customer sooner rather than later.
Something is about to require clean books
A lender, or a letter you would rather not open. This is when most people call, and it is the most expensive moment to start, because catching up your financial records after the fact, under a deadline, is how errors get made.
We start with your problem, not our package
Three stages, and the first two are about understanding your situation properly before anybody proposes anything.
We find the pain point
A conversation about what is actually bothering you. Perpetually in catch up mode. Banks or credit cards that never reconcile. Reports too late to act on. Numbers you do not trust. Whatever it is, we want the specific problem rather than a general enquiry, because that is what determines the right solution.
We review your needs and current state, then recommend
We look at what your business actually requires and the condition your records are in now. It is not a one size fits all approach, we focus on your specific needs. We then provide options on how to resolve the issue, with the pros and cons of each and the cost, for your review.
Your specialist runs it, and the reports get reviewed
Your account specialist handles the work month to month and builds a real working relationship with you. At each month end, their reports go through a senior review, and any discrepancies found are reported to you. That review happens every month, on an ongoing basis, not once at the start.

Years of building the systems, not just working inside them
Sunshine Bookkeeping is new. The experience behind it is not. The practice was built by a seasoned senior accountant who has worked in tax and in financial accounting systems configuration and implementation since 1986. That is a different skill from data entry, and it is why they are able to give clients options for improving the transaction accounting and reporting to better meet their specific needs. As a business grows its needs change, whether that is adding accounts to capture more data or creating additional reports. Configuration changes are monitored in the first months after implementation to ensure no discrepancies appear.
The day to day work sits with the team, and that is deliberate. You work with your own account specialist, who handles your books and gets to know your business. Every month end, their reports go through a senior review before anything reaches you, and anything that does not look right is reported to you rather than quietly absorbed.
- Your own specialist, who knows your account rather than a ticket number
- Senior review of the month end reports, every month
- Scope and fees agreed in writing before any work begins
- Your accounting software stays in your name
What arrives each month
- Every bank, credit card and loan account reconciled to the statement, to the cent
- Invoicing and receivables handled where that forms part of your engagement
- Payroll posted and the liability accounts reconciled
- A senior review of the month end reports before they reach you
- Profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow and aging reports in a consistent format
- Any discrepancies found documented and reported to you, with options to correct them where the issue calls for it
- Time on a call to go through the reports with the person who prepared them
- A clean handoff file for your tax preparer each January
Scope and fees agreed in writing before anything begins, month to month terms, and your software subscription stays in your name.

Owner run businesses, not enterprises
Trades and construction, restaurants and food, salons, ecommerce and retail, clinics, real estate, agencies and nonprofits. Typically somewhere between a quarter of a million and five million in revenue, with one person carrying most of the worry.

The five things everybody asks
Answered here so you do not have to ask them on a call.
We talk about what is actually going wrong. Usually it is one of a handful of things: always in catch up mode, banks and credit cards that will not reconcile, or reports that arrive too late to be any use. Once we understand the pain point and the current state of your records, we come back with options for how to resolve it.
There is no such thing. As long as the bank statements exist, and they do because banks keep them, the books can be rebuilt. Being permanently in catch up mode is one of the most common reasons owners get in touch, and it is a solvable problem rather than a character flaw.
It depends on transaction volume, how many accounts need reconciling and the condition the records are in, so there is no honest way to quote it from a website. Some work, cleanup in particular, may be done on an hourly basis. Whatever the arrangement, you will have the scope and the basis of the fee in writing before anything starts.
No. Some clients keep the person doing their day to day work and bring us in for the month end review, where the finished reports are checked and any discrepancies are reported back to you. If the records genuinely need rebuilding we will say so and show you why.
Your own account specialist, who handles your books month to month and gets to know your business rather than working from a ticket. They set their hours around the clients they look after, so there is usually more flexibility than the main office hours suggest. Behind them, every month end report goes through a senior review before it reaches you.
No. Books get behind because you were busy running a business, which is the correct priority. Nobody here is scoring you on it, and we have seen worse.
Not sure where your records actually stand?
Five questions, about ninety seconds, no email address needed to see the result. They are the same questions the initial analysis opens with.

Tell us the one thing you would most like fixed
You do not need to have your records in order to make the call, and you will not be asked for a budget. Describe the problem, and we will tell you honestly whether it is something we can alleviate and roughly what that involves.
